This year we decided to try a few new Easter Egg techniques... hard "baking" the eggs in the oven and dyeing them with Kool Aid! We saw both ideas on Pinterest. We started by baking one egg to test the temperature and time. And it worked perfectly! So then we did the rest the same way.
And we also used whisks again this year. They really are a great tool to help the kids dip the eggs carefully. No cracks!
The boys had fun and whipped through the dozen eggs quickly! Nolan wrote an N on his and made some designs on another with the white crayon. We wrote everyones names and used rubber bands to make other designs as well. They weren't the fanciest, but they were perfectly made by the boys!
We didn't have a wide variety of Kool Aid colors, but the colors we did have turned out very vibrant. And it requires no smelly vinegar! We ended up with Bronco colors which the boys thought were cool.
Too bad when we cracked the eggs later in the week to make egg salad, we ended up with what looked like a dozen SOFT boiled eggs! Guess we needed to bake them longer when the full dozen was in the oven. Pinterest FAIL!
Throughout the week we also had MANY mini Easter Egg hunts. We have 31 plastic eggs and the boys hid them and hunted them over and over again. Each time we played there always seemed to be 1 or 2 missing at the end. But somehow we'd end up finding them somewhere later in the day!
An egg was on top of the basketball hoop!
Nolan was using his binoculars to help him spot some! Ha!
My sister is an ambitious baker. And her creations are yummy and beautiful.
So this year we decided to tackle a German Lutheran tradition...the Lamb Cake!
Here is the mold ready to go into the oven.
And here is the final masterpiece! It turned out so cute!
Tyler and Laura even made one in Oklahoma. It was the Great Lamb Off of 2013! Here is their creation...
Who do you think should be announced the winner?
Look at these cute Easter Bunnies!
Time to dig in! Nolan especially thought this cake was delicious! He was eating his piece with his hands and had frosting everywhere!
Another fun Easter activity I found on Pinterest! Easter Egg lunch!
The boys loved carefully opening up each egg and shouting out what was inside!
We will definitely be doing this each year! It was fun!
And finally...Grandma had a special Easter present for the boys too! The Easter Bunny sent her to deliver it to the boys!
They LOVE their Pop the Pigs! Those little green balls seem to fly all over, all the time. Brooks likes them too but they end up in his mouth very quickly, so we have to watch him carefully. Mark and I seem to get in on the fun as well. They are the perfect tormenting tool! Ha! Thanks Grandma & Grandpa!
Just a few more posts to go...Jumpstreet and Easter Sunday coming soon!

Mallory, you look quite evil about to cut open the lamb, but I am so impressed with your baking skills! I think you should open a bakery some day :)
