Happy 5th Birthday Nolan!

I can't believe that Nolan is FIVE YEARS OLD! It seems like just yesterday that I was having this sweet baby boy in the middle of the night. And now, here he is, five years old. Handsome, smart, creative, imaginative, musical, sensitive, caring, silly, and funny!

His birthday falls during the busiest time of year, so his celebrations have been a bit spread out. We started by celebrating his birthday at school before he went off for Winter Break.

He picked out these cool Broncos cupcakes to share with his classmates. Vanilla cake with vanilla frosting. His favorite.

Here he is in his classroom after school that day. He proudly showed off his Birthday crown and the Broncos football helmet ring that came on top of his cupcake.

We were in Chicago on his real birthday- December 30th!
I made this fun Star Wars Legos birthday chair for him.

He woke up in the morning and hopped right in.

We went with the whole family to IHOP, or as Nolan calls it, "Pancake World", for breakfast! He loves this place as you may remember from past blog posts! It was super busy that morning and a little chaotic with our big crew, but I know it was SO special for him!

We brought a candle and put it in his pancakes and sang Happy Birthday to him!

Then it was time to dig in...
Boysenberry is Nolan's FAVORITE syrup! Although, he really does like them all!
The IHOP staff also serenaded Nolan with Happy Birthday and brought him a little treat, but I didn't get my camera out in time. It was pretty cute!

Isn't this picture the best? Nolan LOVES his Auntie. They LOVE to be silly together!

After breakfast, we went back to Grandma & Grandpa's house for PRESENTS! Think he was more than a little excited!

He got 2 new Star Wars Lego sets and books.

And this cool Captain America shield from Laura. They have had a lot of fun with this already. It shoots bullets...what's not to love!

And Grandma & Grandpa gave him the most precious gift...

Nolan's Moon- written by Grandma and illustrated by Kerri Liu! My mom wrote this book all about her relationship with Nolan. It is so sweet! I cried throughout reading the whole thing! And what makes it even that much more special is that my best friend since Kindergarten illustrated it and published it! She did such a beautiful job. Doesn't that look just like Nolan? And you should see my mom...so cute! This will be treasured forever! Thank you mom for such a thoughtful gift! You are the best! And you two should totally publish some children's books together!

And on top of all of that, we are still planning a fun Jansen family party for him here in Colorado in a few weeks.

Nolan Bradley,
How do I put into words my love for you?
You are bright. You are loving. You are inquisitive.
You are a great big brother.
You are a fun son!
You are made perfectly in God's image.
We pray that you will always know how special you are!
We pray that you will be confident and strong and serving.
We pray that you always have a heart for your Heavenly Father.

May this be your BEST year yet!
We love you to pieces and pieces!
We love you to the moon and back.
We love you to infinity and beyond.
You make our hearts SOOOOO happy!
You make our hearts want to SIIIIIING!

XOXO Mommy & Daddy
