Dinosaur Ridge

We had a fun morning checking out Dinosaur Ridge! When we got there we bought our tickets and waited for the shuttle. When it arrived, we all packed in like sardines.
But the boys thought it was fun to ride standing up in the bus into the foothills.

The bus makes stops along the route and everyone hops out, looks at fossils, listens to some dinosaur facts, and explores.
In typical Heath fashion he was right up close and personal with the guide and the fossils and the other kids.

Nolan insisted we bring magnifying glasses with us to get a closer look.

Here Heath is investigating the fossil the guide is explaining to the group.

They had so much fun climbing around in the rocks.

I think the most fascinating tidbit we learned was that Colorado was once under the ocean! Crazy to think that now because we have very little water!

A dinosaur's foot impression!
Ahhhhh! I'm getting smushed by a dinosaur!

It was a very warm day, but we enjoyed being outside in the blue sky!

Dinosaur Ridge uses charcoal to shade in the footprints to make them easier to see.

 Walking with the dinosaurs.

Sitting in a dino print!

After the tour, the boys dug for fossils and got to take a few home.
They also chose special rocks from the gift shop as a souvenir.

And then we had fun checking out all of the dinosaur statues!

Grandma is always up for an adventure! And when she's in town we know we will have a good time being "tourists" together!
