Cancun Family Vacay

We had a fabulous Jansen family vacation in Cancun, Mexico! It was a trip with beautiful weather, fun in the sun, and lots of family memories. I took a ton of pictures, so I'll break up our 10 day adventure into a few posts. This post is dedicated just to DAY 1.

I finished my 10th year of teaching on Friday, June 21st! Woo hoo! The next morning, we woke up early and headed to the airport. Ernie dropped us off so that we wouldn't have to leave our car in the lot for ten days. We arrived at the airport at the same time as the rest of the fam and we all checked in and were SO excited to start our trip together. The boys ran through the airport like they knew just where to go!

When we finally made it to our gate the kids all had fun waiting anxiously together. It is quite a different trip from the last time we all went. 5 more children this time!

Checking out the plane.

A quick selfie before we took off! Oh my, look at the bags under my eyes! After my first year of teaching Kindergarten, I really needed this week of relaxation! Ha!

The boys are expert flyers and did great traveling. They did sticker books while we waited to be able to turn on electronic devices. They love taking off! They look out the window, and act like they are riding a roller coaster. They say things like, "Woo hoo!" and "Yeah baby!". "We're flying!!!!!!" Too cute! Once in the air, they watched two movies and ate snacks. Brooks was great and fell asleep as soon as we took off. He slept for most of the flight too!

When we landed we had such an easy time getting through customs and getting our bags.

And in no time we were on the shuttle to our resort. The boys thought they were super cool riding in the van without seat belts. Only in Mexico boys.

We got to the resort and Payton immediately took the boys to the turtle pond. She was old enough to remember all the fun things to do at the resort.

We spent a lot of time during the week checking out the turtles and fish.

Then they were all on the run again, so excited to see everything!

Beautiful. The water was so gorgeous!

As soon as we could, we were off to the beach!

Nolan loved the beach here when he was 18 months. And he loved it this time too! Auntie Cara called him a "beach bum". He loved rolling in the sand and the crashing waves. And he loved finding shells too.

Heath has never been a big fan of sand. He doesn't like how it sticks to his body. But he came pretty far this week! And was actually enjoying the sand by the end of the trip.

This was Nolan's favorite thing...sitting on the shore and letting the waves wash over him!

His suit would be FILLED with sand every day!

The tide was pretty strong, so most times we held onto the boys in the water. Heath really liked being in the waves. He would point out to the ocean and shout, "another one, another one, another one!" over and over and over again!

After awhile at the beach we all headed back to have dinner at our favorite Mexican restaurant, "Pacos Tacos". The kids were all exhausted but still did well after a LONG day. It was straight to bed after dinner. The boys loved sleeping in their Murphy Beds and slept really well all week.

More posts coming soon!
