Champ Camp!

I need to play a little catch up on the blog! We have been super busy moving and I have been swamped getting my room ready, attending meetings, planning for my first year as a Kindergarten teacher, and testing 5 year olds! My first day of school is tomorrow, I may be M.I.A. from blogging again for awhile after a few posts tonight!

The week before we moved, Nolan attended "Champ Camp" at the Parker Rec center! Nolan has always enjoyed watching sports more than playing them. He has always been more of an imaginative/explorer/creative type kid. However, he likes to do anything his Daddy is doing so he cheers for all the same teams and asks a million questions about whatever game they are watching together on TV. But recently he has showed more and more interest in trying to play some sports as well. So we signed him up to attend a little sports camp for 3 mornings in July.

He was SUPER excited to go! I think he was really ready to be out of the house and doing something on his own! He misses the routine and independence of Preschool and has had just about enough of his  2 year old brother and his bossy Mommy and is ready for his friends and some fun learning again!

So Champ Camp came at a good point of Summer!
He LOVED it!
He played "Cookie Monster" to practice soccer skills, "threw footballs into curtains", played t-ball, and did the Olympics. It was a HOT week, so they ended each morning with a drink and snack and craft activity to cool down inside.

Here is Nolan showing off his sports bracelet. They also colored, got a sports sticker, made paper airplanes, and on the last day earned a medal. He chose a baseball medal, because that's his Daddy's favorite sport, so naturally, his too. Although, the teacher told me that he actually enjoyed playing soccer the most!

It was nice for him to be able to do something independent, to get some exercise, learn some new skills, and socialize! And it was also nice for me to be able to have a little one on two time with my younger boys! And it also gave me a lot of time to pack, hence the picture above!

It's fun now that Nolan is old enough to explore some of his interests and to see what he excels in! We think we will have him join some sort of team in the Spring. We really want him to choose something he is interested in, to encourage him to work hard, to persevere, to learn, to work as a team, to take risks, to encourage others, and to have fun! Whether thats sports, or music, or clubs, or academics, we are just excited to see him grow and develop and use the gifts God has given him! We are so blessed to have such an awesome kid!
