Back to School!

We were all excited for the start of another school year!

Nolan started first. Here he is at his Meet & Greet with his 1st Grade teacher, Mr. G!
Mr. G. loves birds. Nolan has always loved birds too because Oma & Opa have a cool bird book that they read to all of their grandchildren. And they always look for birds in their backyard. So the bird name tags were a hit! Mr. G. also calls his class the Chickadees.

Look what Nolan spotted as we walked in…Mr. G.'s Yoda Backpack! And this was just the start of all the amazing things Nolan would see in his classroom. Mr. G. is a dream teacher for any little boy! His room is full of fun!  Non-Fiction, Batman, Star Wars, a guitar, a cow boy hat, a couch, Science, wiggle chairs, and class pets! 4 to be exact: Scooter the Tarantula, Rex the Gecko, and Bubbles and Carl the Beta Fish. We prayed God would place Nolan in an engaging and encouraging environment this year. And He did just that!

First Day Photos...

All lined up and ready for a great day!

Celebrating an awesome first day with a little FroYo!
5 full days a week of 1st Grade and Nolan is loving it! He gets school lunch about 3 times a week. He plays with his buddies from last year every day at recess and is starting to talk more about his new friends too. He has so much to tell me everyday about new routines and activities. He LOVES going to Science in a mobile and attending Specials every day. He now gets to check out 2 library books each week and has a weekly classroom job. He still goes to After Care, but now goes every day. Spanish and Choir start this week. He is a busy, busy boy and is EXHAUSTED by the end of the week! We are so proud of him and are enjoying watching how much he loves school! He was so excited to show us all around at his Back to School Night this week.

I started school the week after Nolan and then Heath started the week after me. It was nice to slowly transition into our crazy routine of 3 schools, schedules, and activities.

Here are some pictures of Heath at his Open House...
He always wants me to take his picture here.

Our neighbors watched Nolan and Brooks so that Mark and I could take Heath and spend some nice time focusing on just him.
 Checking out his new classroom.
It's a Very Hungry Caterpillar theme.

Reading in his cozy book corner.

I like how he stacked up his pieces.

Ready for another fun year of Preschool!

Their backpacks ready to go. They LOVE all of their funny keychains. Or as Heath calls them "cheecanes".

How is this handsome guy mine?

He did awesome. Walked right in, hung up his backpack, high fived me goodbye, and sat right down on his spot! Loved seeing him so confident!

Sitting by Nathan who was in his class last year as well.

So far, so good. It has pretty much been all sunshine and rainbows.
Well, homework hasn't started yet. And we had only one morning of nerves about the "kiss and go" lane. And maybe only a few, "I don't want to go to school."s muttered by a tired 4 year old who didn't want to turn off Peg Plus Cat to go brush his teeth.

But really, we have so much to be grateful for.
Well behaved boys. A community with a great school.
iPads, supplies, nice new clothes, healthy lunches and snacks, books, loving teachers, kind friends, and a love for learning!
And we're SO thankful for these smiles! God has entrusted us with these precious boys and we pray that they will SHINE at school each day!
