SIX

I have a SIX year old! Crazy! He is so big and smart and handsome. And we love him so much and wanted him to feel so celebrated on his birthday!

My Dad left on the evening of the 28th so after dropping him off at the train station we came home to have a nice talapia dinner and a game of Scattergories. We kept the next day open for a day to celebrate Nolan Bradley...a day early.

And we couldn't think of a better way to celebrate him than with FRO YO!
He chose black cherry flavor.

And loaded it up with his usual toppings- gummies and fruit!

We stuck 6 candles in his treat and sang to him!

He was really proud!

We all enjoyed the deliciousness! We were just missing Grandpa!

Then we headed back home to open a few gifts.

Another Ninja Turtle Lego set from Auntie and Flob!

Thank you kisses! Nolan has no problem with affection.

Mutagen Ooze! This was a fun surprise we had never seen before! It is a HUGE hit around here!

Uncle T also got him Stewart Little and Charlotte's Web. He enjoys building Nolan's library.

Nolan also got a few more Mini Figures!

The ooze came with a little Raphie inside!

Later that day we had to take L&T and M&B to the airport. We were so sad to see them leave!

The next morning was Nolan's REAL birthday! December 30th! He woke up and was excited to come downstairs to check out his birthday chair.
He may be six, but he still loves that shredded blankie. It doesn't go everywhere with us anymore but it is his comfort in bed each night.

After checking out his birthday chair he had a breakfast birthday date with Grandma.
As soon as he got home he was ready to open presents right away!
Mario was the theme of his chair this year!

And he REALLY needed a new bike. We got kind of a medium sized bike because we knew our cautious kid would not feel comfortable if it was too big. So we know it won't last him long, but it will be the perfect size to learn to ride without training wheels. He has become comfortable on it already and is doing well steering, so we know those training wheels will be coming off soon. Whether he likes it or not! Gotta push that kid out of his comfort zone most days, but he is always thankful and proud when he realizes it's fun to take a risk!

He's loving his new sets of wheels!

Back to the chair...

The first gift he opened was from Grandma & Grandpa- he got Lincoln Logs!

And then he opened up a gift from the Sloothaaks. A Broncos backpack and a 3-in-1 airplane Lego set.  So fun!

We got to work building with the Lincoln Logs right away. Then we spent the rest of the morning running errands and made sure that the boys had some time to rest that afternoon because we had a fun evening planned...

Chuck-e-Cheese! Nolan's request! We hadn't gone in over a year, so it was a great idea!
I don't know if Brooks had ever gone on rides before. He didn't know what to think of it at first, he didn't laugh or cry. He was pretty straight faced. By the end of the night I think he really enjoyed them!

The older boys had a blast playing games!

Feeding the Dog was a favorite and it gave a lot of tickets!

And they both loved the horse ride!

Chuck-e came out right as we were sitting down to eat! The boys were so excited to see him!

Then we ate and the boys enjoyed watching the show!

They were glued to the screens and to Chuck-e's singing!

Then it was straight back at the rides!

Brooks loved this dinosaur game...he actually did great throwing the balls to feed the dinosaur!

We took turns hanging out with the boys, playing games, and watching them ride rides.

Chuck-e came back out a little later. He did some dancing with the kids and gave out free tickets. Nolan didn't want to dance at first but warmed up and joined in. Heath danced the whole time but didn't want to visit with Chuck-e again.

But Nolan did...
He ran over for more hugs and they showed off their muscles!

This is what Chuck E. Cheese's does to Grandmas! Ha! Nolan called her "squishy face"!

An Ice Age version of Whack-a-mole!

Heath was super good at this game!

The boys all loved this Feed the Pig game too! In true Jansen boy style, Heath quickly ran from game to game playing one token after the next and ran out of tokens first. Nolan was more deliberate in his choice of games and had about 6 tokens left to play while Heath munched his tickets and picked his prizes.

He ended up playing this Pirate ship game a couple of times in a row and learned to play it well.
My Mom, Mark, and I played each other in a few rounds of Skee Ball. My Mom was the champ in the end! And Mark really enjoyed the football throwing game as well.

We came home with these fun pictures from the Chuck-e ride and a handful of other cheap prizes that the boys loved!
Heater Bombs!

Brooksie checking out Chuck-e. He didn't know what to think of him! Ha!

And the Birthday boy! He had a great day and we had so much fun celebrating his big day with him! We are so thankful for you Nolan Bradley! This will be a great year! I know it!
