our little escape

We absolutely LOVE Mark's family's cabin. It is a quiet escape from our busy lives. We headed up to Indian Hills for a day in the foothills with our friends.
The boys read books in the car on the way up.

And all the kids enjoyed the sandbox, trucks, and animals.

We saw a bunch of deer that day! One was actually sitting in the sandbox when we pulled up! The kids loved spotting them on our hike! And we also saw the cutest little spotted baby deer!

We went on a short hike! Even at a higher elevation it was a HOT day so we didn't do the usual circle, but it was nice to get a little exercise and soak up God's beautiful creation!

Trey enjoyed running off down the hill! Can you see him down in the valley?

The Sloothaaks got some really great family pictures this week!

The boys liked finding sticks...

and Mark taught them to whack them against the trees to break branches!

Love this pic of these cute buddies!

Brooks was such a trooper, as always, and was happy to be outside all day!

His playmate, Trey, helped keep him entertained!

JOY!

Can you tell Rowie was having fun? She was covered in dirt!
Dirt = Fun at the Cabin!

We escaped the heat and played inside the cabin for a bit.

The kids love the player piano! We played and sang and danced!

Jill and I gave it a try as well!

Then the kids played Hide and Seek! There were so many great hiding spots! They laughed and laughed at all their clever hiding and smart finding! Trey and Heath were busy counting in this picture. One round, I was the "finder"...I searched the whole cabin and COULD NOT find them! You know where they were? Outside, in the Civic! What smart little kids! They thought they were pretty funny when I finally found them!

We just made a quick lunch of sandwiches, but grilled yummy burgers and hotdogs for dinner!

Chowing down!

After dinner we relaxed a bit more...

and had popsicles for dessert!

Then headed home! We were all exhausted from a super fun day! We are so thankful for this little home away from home!
