snow joy

Last weekend we FINALLY had enough snow to go sledding. It snowed all day on Saturday and had accumulated to anywhere between 5 to 12 inches depending on where you were. On Sunday morning the boys went to the DU hockey game with Mark and his family. We had told them that we could go sledding when they got back. But by the time that they got back, there was hardly any snow left. That's life here in Colorado...it's wonderful. We get snow but we also get SO much sunshine! So we drove around and looked for a good hill that still had enough snow on it. Luckily, there were some perfect hills at the park that is right by our house. It was nice because there was just enough snow to sled still but it wasn't too deep for the kids to trudge through as they went up and down the hill.

 Last year, it took Nolan a little while to warm up to sledding. This year, he jumped right on his sled and cruised down the hill!
He was so funny! It was like he got an adrenaline rush or something because he was shouting the craziest things as he slid down the hill. He was screaming random things like "Woo hoo, bomb shells, baby showers, pink splat, yahoo, wooooooooo!!!!!!" Silly boy! But it was SO fun to watch him be so care free and have such a great time!

Here he was pretending to be a seal in the snow...

all two inches of it. See all the grass peeking through. It kept melting more and more while we were there.

Just like last year, Heath loved it too. He went down with me the first time, but then only wanted to do it by himself after that. {Don't mind the make up less face and wrinkles, but I wanted to document my crazy boy and I and the time when he actually wanted and needed me!}

This little munchkin was so exhausted that he actually fell asleep in my arms while we were sledding.

We also walked across the field to a steeper and longer hill, but there was a little creek at the bottom of it, so the boys went down with Mark so that he could stop them from crashing into the water. We had just taken their coats off because they were so hot. But this wasn't the best idea, because they ended up getting totally white washed! But it was funny and they handled it well!

Back up to go again!

 We pulled Brooksie around on a little baby sled the whole time. Can't wait until next year when we can all play in the snow together.

Heath stomped through every melted snow puddle the whole way back to the car!

And Nolan literally slumped to the ground in an exhausted heap as soon as we made it out of the snow!

These two did the same as soon as they hit the couch.

It was a fun family day, and judging by our weather this week, it's looking like it will be our only sledding experience this year. At least I can hope right?! I'm ready for Spring!
